Look at the softness of the colors, the light, the way Enjolras’s face is pressed to Grantaire’s shoulder. The comfort in their embrace, but also — let’s be fair, not to mention delighted — the suggestiveness, and the barely contained fierceness of their grip on each other. What fascinates me, because Nisie is amazing, is how this phase of the WIP is similar to but just different enough from the first posted draft to have a slightly changed air: melancholy tempered to something both sexier and more delicate. It’s not actually less devastating, in its own way; they are still marked for death. But there is, at least, the (sad and supremely gorgeous and hot) sweetness of this moment. ::whew::
