PHOTOSHOP STEPS FOR BEGINNERS

ps-experts:

Content of this post:

1) Getting started with Photoshop: General information

2)  List of Resources

Introduction: Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe Systems. Since it has a lot of useful functions it is easily the best program for making graphics out there which is why pretty much all the  people on the internet use it on a daily basis.

The latest version of Photoshop is Cs6. There are 6 latest versions, Cs comes first then Cs2, Cs3, Cs4, Cs5 and lastly Cs6. For me, I use Adobe Photoshop Cs5 because I like it best. I don’t know which version is better but I do know many people complain about the old versions like CS, Cs2, Cs3 and 4 (this doesn’t mean they’re bad at all, some other people prefer them) but I personally like Photoshop cs5 the most. Anyway, I hope you’ve got my point.

 1)

#1 How to open a file on Photoshop and how to save it:

Go to File > Open. Choose your file.

#2 How to save a photo on photoshop:

Go to File > Save/Save As. Save your photo.

#3 How to save a gif:

Go to File > Save For Web And Devices. A window will appear, make sure you change the settings on the right of the window to these: image

#4 What is a psd? How do you use a psd?

A psd is a file that contains adjustments that can change a colour of your file and make it look nicer depending on your file. To use a psd, you will find a group in the psd files’ layers. Drag the group into the file you want to use the psd on.

#5 What does sharpening do?

Sharpening your file is another way to make your photo clearer and it gives it a High Quality effect if your photo was low quality. To sharpen your file go to Filter > Sharpen and choose the Sharpening Effect you want to use from the options.

#6 How to crop a photo to an exact size.

click on the crop button and a bar will appear at the top, the bar consists of nothing but the cropping settings. You will also see the ‘Width’ and ‘Height’ boxes, that’s where you’ll type in your numbers. Make sure you type in ‘px’ after the numbers. Then start cropping.

#7 Merge Visible and Flatten Image.

To merge layers, you have to right click on one of the layers in your layers tab and select ‘Merge Visible’ from the options. By merging your layers, you gather them all in one pixel layer. If you do not merge your work, you will end up with a PSD, that has a very large file size, and can only be saved as a PSD file.
